Hi, im hoping to enterer some Historic Events next year and wondered on how fussy the scrutiniers are with what colour the car is painted. Does it need to be a colour of the period the car was built ????

It is appendix K, just read through it all id like to paint it in orange but i can only find Flamenco Orange which is almost red. Are there any other Oranges available for a 1971 Saloon ?

Vamillion Red (BVLC 118) & Blaze (BLVC 16) Both look Great. I'll ask my local paint supplier for a small tin of spray of both just to see how they compaire. Im very impressed with 2 Pack Epoxy Paint !! Had one of my trucks done with it and you could take a hammer to it, ideal for rally cars.

I didn't think that the colour was restricted for appendix K. Cars should appear in period, without sponsorship, advertising or graphics, unless it can be proven that a car ran in period with the design. Hence why you see cars running in appendix K painted in the Broadspeed colours of Regal Red and Silver. On a 1971 car there would be nothing stopping you replicating the Car and Car Coversions livery, or Patrick Motors.
The link below is to a pdf of teh appendix K regs from the FIA

Also if you are looking for an orange than how about Marigold. It was used on early Mini vans. It is the colour of the car below which competed in the 1960s and is now being used on many history events today. Here it is on one of the Skipton Cattle Market tests on the 2012 Ilkeley Jubilee rally
