Hi

I have brought a 1991 city 3 years ago i spent a little time restoring the car to use it for the road did the majority of the welding which was a previous topic on here. Last October i invested in a metro and took it off the road to tidy it up and carry on using as a daily, only it did'nt quite work out that way and the car is shaping up to be much better than first expected. i will add few photos and let them do the talking.

P3310001.jpg

march 2011 when i purchased the car

P3310002.jpg

if you think the car looked tidy then think again it had some serious rot issues despite the 19,000 miles it had on the clock

P6050011.jpg

P6260002.jpg

The car went through some major reconstructive surgery to get it to an mot able stage

i rattle canned the car and got it in a very tatty rough round the edges state of repair had it motd and drove it for a year looking like this.

The car looked very sorry for itself but served a purpose

once the tax and mot ran out i started to strip it down ready for the restoration part 2 ahead

engine came out

chopped the front end off

chopped all the rot out of the flitch / inner wing

This for now is all ive got to put up i have made more progress but will get some photos of that up in due course, my deadline i am aiming for is to be taxed and tested before 1st may 2014! so no rush a nice little winter project i think. Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. would like to say a great big thankyou to my dad and friend andy who did the welding between them teaching me how to do so along the way next project i now have the confidence to do all the welding myself. Also like to give a big thankyou to a good friend of mine tell who painted the car for me and put up with me day in day out whilst the prep work was done so thanks tell you have made a fantastic job of the paint could not be happier!! if anyone wants to have a look a little more in depth into the project a link to my photobucket account is http://s951.photobuc...e?sort=3&page=1 there is plenty more pictures on there and will be over the coming months.

Thanks Josh

Hi, not updated the thread for a long while so a fair update is needed. The car has come on leaps and bounds and have spent a fair amount on the car. I had a big push to try ready the car for the summer but ran out of money causing me to fall shy of the 1st of May target, the new target now is 1st April 2015 giving me time to Finnish the car properly rather than rush it.
Since the last update I have built the front subframe and fitted it putting it back on 4 wheels, rebuilt a 1275 I brought using all new internals. The spec of the engine is as follows:
Standard A+ 1275 bottom end, with centre main bearing strap, mg metro cam shaft, med ultralite fly wheel, Kent high pressure oil pump, the. It's got a stage 3 12g940 cylinderder head, that's been fully reworked , bigger valves, phosphor bronze guides, double springs, cooper s forged steel rockers. And to top it off a 2" milltek single box exhaust, twin hif 38 carbs and mega jolt. The shell is now almost finished. This may seem as if I am on the finnising straight but the list of jobs is still a long one:
Finnish dash and wiring loom off.
Sort cooling system I.e. Ally rad and silicone hoses.
Fit carbs and mega jolt and have set up.
Fit tyres to the reverse rims.
And just generally Finnish the shell.

Anyway will let the pictures do the talking any opinions and suggestions are welcome.
