Hi guys

As some of you will know I'm building a mini seven racer. The car is an old miglia, it previously ran a cooper S master cylinder, to a servo, then split to the front and the rears to a reduction valve then to the rear cooper S slave cylinders

I want to run a split master cylinder cylinder (late mini) the front line will possibly go through a servo, and then to the brakes. The rears straight from the master cylinder to a bias valve, then to the slaves.

Would I need to run a servo? What's people's opinions? Servo yes? Split system yes?

Servo yes if you buy mine as I've taken it off and no if not, I'd rather have feel and the braking power is unbelievable, I've got split master cylinder off a Metro I believe, into the balancer valve thing on the bulkhead, to standard 8.4 fronts with mintex m1144 pads and standard rears

I got a servo thanks.. Just wanted to know what peoples feelings were to using them on track:)

So you prefer it without a servo?

Yeah, just prefer it without as it takes up a lot of space ad also, when people get thrown forwards and say 'F**k me they're good!' I can say yeah and thats without a servo, to which most think that servos makes the brakes more powerful :)

Just run a modified adjustable early single line rear valve that was fitted to the rear subframe

Servo just reduces the pedal effort, great if you're nipping down the shops but on the race track braking feel is more important than having to worry about pedal pressure, I would just opt for a non servo system if I was you, plus makes you feel more manly having to really lean on the pedal ;)

Ugh I have to do that to one again... :P

Yeah I know what a servo does, it's just my dad drove touring cars for a good 20 years and he said he preferred a servo, lighter brakes so you wernt using all your effort to stop the bugger and can concentrate on driving it!! His words!

I know you get more of a feel of what your brakes are doing without a servo..but.. I dunno.. All of the racing cara I run don't have servos, Summs races without a servo..

Il go servoless

no servo from me as brakes are good without & working under the bonnet is alot better without it so that alone would make up my mind .

I'm thinking of doing the same so that's helped me decide as well, already on vented 8.4s and alloy 4 pots on the front and have the bias valve, so presumably it's just a case of swapping my servo master cylinder for a twin non-servo one?

Ah, OK, will look into it. I might see if anyone with a daily driver wants to go the other way and swap the bits.

On my 7 I did not run a servo and cannot recall any cars running a servo, I had a very simple setup that worked for me and still the same on the car with its new owners.
