Load sensing valves are in essence adjustable, I don't see any difference as long as it's not fitted as a driver's control. The subframe valve will work, the FAM valve offers the advantage that it uses front line pressure to reduce the rear: no front brakes = no reduction in rear brake efficiency, so you could stop a little sooner in the event of a failure (the rear is still likely to lock up). I reckon an inertia valve is a better solution all round.

Thanks Ethel. I'm looking into recovering the photos of when I dismantled the FAM 7821 valve. If I get the photo back I'll post it for others to see

It's not a uniquely Mini part, I'm sure I've seen an Aussie (Moke?) forum with a topic on servicing one with a generic O ring. I'm not sure I'd recommend it unless you can be sure of the seal's suitability.
