£1301 with 2k mileage?? guesing you wont be at many mini events then! my anual mileage is usualyl guestimated at 11k and i still manage to go over it

I wopuld advise doing Pass Plus, it will cost £150 but my insurance was something like £900 fully comp in my first year! so well worth doin it!

Ask your instructor for info on it!

what am i doing up at 1 in the morning? anyway its always best to phone as everybody has individual circumstances, areas also affect insurance (high risk etc) some companies even go by how many people have claimed in your street! thats why its best to shop around always phone if your serious about getting a quote too! think its zzzzzzz time!

im 17 - and my insurance through tesco cost me a wopping £1500 FC for a "standard" :D 998 HL - what a rip off, and the sadest thing is that was the cheapest i could get - most wouldnt give me the time of day because i was 17.

I ask bout modifications -
Stage 1 - £600 more
Alloys which cost me £40 - £250 more

Rediculous!!!!!! :-

But they didnt care bout me having a show cage in - because it was a body or engine mod ^_^ - weird

I was with them too, but I got pissed off with not being able to talk to someone who actually speaks and understands English.

The way I see it, a standard mini, isn't worth having f/c insurance on, infact other than my westy I've never bothered with f/c on any car. Ring around lots of places, try some of the people who claim to be cheap for young drivers in the Yellow Pages, they may get the price down but your excess will probly go up - just drive carefuly so you don't cause an accident, simple. Also put your mum or dad down as a named driver, they have the advantage of age and hopefuly some NCB, this used to half my premium. Another thing is if you have a garage (even a council lock-up) tell the insurance robbers that you keep it garaged at night, this will knock the price down too.

Another thing to consider is your postcode, eg for me it is PL2, to the insurance company this tells them I live near the city centre of Plymouth (even tho its about 2 miles fromt he centre) and this is classed as high risk. If you live in PL17 which is Liskeard and the surroundings about 15-20 miles from Plymouth, then it will be less because its away from the city centre risk area. If I lived on the next street over then my postcode would be PL5 and insurance would be cheaper, how stupid is that, what they are less likely to get robbed over there then?

those quotes seem very high? not being funny do you live in a high crime area or something

im 22 which i know makes a world of difference but i can insure a 998 for under £200 fully comp.

when i was 17 i was getting cheaper quotes than that on a fiesta xr2i.

Whats your situation? e.g college, full time work etc. you may be telling them something thats putting them off e.g that the car is parked in a student car park all day or outside a pub maybe.

My first year insurance on an old Nissan Micra......yes I know was £1000 it dropped to under £300 on the next year im only 19 now an im about to be on my third year of driving an im getting quotes of around £250 on the Micra an a Mini combined so insurance does drop in price if you start to build up your no claims.....

Don't do pass plus tho its not worth the extra.

Ive spoken to a few insurers and they will knock a maximum of £500 off for pass plus.

My postcode is classed as D risk so its closer to high, but i keep it behind the house behind two locked gates plus it has an immobiliser and alarm. Strangely though, considrering the area i live in i would say its the safest of the lot :S

And thanks to everyone posting in here with their experience and which insurers its helping alot. Thanks again.
