I ran out of petrol, so now all the sediment and crap from the tank is making its way into the fuel and I'm losing power and constantly stalling until I can get the tank drained.
AA said there should be a intake filter on my 998cc mini, to prevent the sediment doing this, but he can't find it. Any suggestions?

As standard, I dont think there is any fuel filter before the carb, so sediment may have found its way into the carb

There wasn't one fitted until the introduction on the injection Mini's. It is a good idea to fit an inline filter though.

as above wasn't fitted on many mini's

the inline filter's are cheap enough on ebay (you will need 2 jubilee clips as well as an empty tank

I'm not keen on clamping rubber pipe (esp the old pipe on mini's) & a good time to check the pipe condition as they do age badly at the fuel tank end

I would fit it the tank side of the fuel pump to protect pump & carb (disconnect battery before starting)

good luck

Buy an in-line filter from a motor factors, strip & clean the carburettor and fill with clean petrol. It'll be fine then.
