Nice looking project, keep up the good work. One thing are those core plugs in back to front? The should dish backwards when looking at the front of the block. You don't want to get it all together and they leak, it might just be the lighting in the pics.

It's a pre a+ block, they are slightly domed outward and you have to tighten them up by tripping the center part in. I know what you mean though, the later engines dish the other way.

Small update, all my nuts and bolts finally came back from the zinc platers, so I can crack on with finishing the engine off

Well the engine is in! Still lots more to do but at least it's in the car, that's another hurdle completed. Also I fitted the wipers and picked up some cooper rims, so I might fit these as opposed to the alloys as they look a bit more retro!

I got the gear linkage all stopped and cleaned and fitted today, along with the exhaust system. I fitted some silver foil tape on the underside of the tunnel to help stop the floor and battery cable from getting too hot.
