Yup, that's the right place. You just need some decent bolts now and you are sorted.

Yep, that makes sense now! I'm surprised the belts didn't come with a bolt long enough though.
You do need high tensile bolts though, the one you've used looks like it would be a normal strength grade.
Also make sure the reel is exactly vertical, or the locking mechanism may not function properly.

Thanks all for the safety tip! Bolts arrived today. They are 7/16 UNF 2-1/4" HT Zinc Plated Grade 5 (8.8). Grade 5 / 8.8 ~ 120,000 psi tensile strength.

Fitted and good to go. I was also surprised that the bolts that came along weren't long enough, but I'm happy its fixed properly now.

Just done this exact thing tonight I bought 2 bolts from my local fastener place that look like you could hang a house from them they only just go through the hole in the rear bin I used the metal spacer that came with it and I put a washer, lock washer and another nut on the rear of it seems solid the only thing is my reels are very slightly off vertical reason being was that when they retract the rub on the piller so just slightly angels to stop the chafing locking mechanism is brilliant.
My bolts say JF 8.8 on them
