In my sneezing state I have just checked the car with a friend, who is going to be more involved in the rebuild than he realises :) and I have decided to go down the 'let's keep it original' route - as far as possible that is - I will make a few updates here and there that will be acceptable to all. I don't see the car as an money making venture as I am sure many of you would tell me the same.

I have read through a good part of the site and I don't want to fall foul of any of the rules on buying and selling etc so I will post an ad in the wanted list

I have already downloaded the tips on painting and for a measly £5 I am happy to subscribe. I think I have got my moneys worth in this exchange so far - am I easily pleased :)

Thanks to everyone for your comments and interest.

I hope you don't get sick of me when the going gets tough

Lee

Thanks for the photos - will be helpful - at least I will know what to look for, even though I am miles away from even this.

I am not too keen on the dash - I take it that can be 'upgraded' in some way?

A secure locking area would be good.

If you want to keep the car original as possible, you should consider changing the radio to a philips R570.

Does it work? If you want to get rid of it to a good home I'd be interested.

If your just going to upgrade the interior then why not just keep hold of the parts you remove? It can easily be converted back to its original state then.

that's a good point my friend and one that has made me decide to keep the black colour, even though the one that Cradley heathen has shown is more in my style ( o e white and a black roof). It looks like I am into spending some semi serious cash on this before I can get to the assembly stage and I honestly believe it will be a keeper - but I thought the same of my 2nd frog ( god do I regret selling it now).

I am not sure if the radio even works and to be honest who doesn't upgrade their stereo once in a while. Once I have checked it out I am still minded to get rid - I am not a hoarder.

Good call though

I believe the mini 30 was a limited run of 3000 cars. Im not sure how many survive today but id imagine in years to come that limited edition status will have some affect on value/desireablity etc. If it was me personally I'd keep it quite standard (and keep any bits or parts you interchange) but im a sucker for limited editions (even if rovers main intention with these limited editions was to make more sales through somewhat minor changes from the base models) and rare cars.

as mentioned earlier in this thread at the end of the day its all personal preference and the emphasis should be on enjoying your car they way you want it set up. I own a limited edition mini and plan to keep it mainly standard, I may change the alloys and lightly mod the engine (as these can be put back to standard with ease) but I wont mess with the body, colour scheme or interior.
