edit:  there is none of that silly arch gap now.  who needs arch gap

yeah stripes were on wrong then because my dad rebuilt it late 80s, the original shell was fairly rusty after 17 years use...   not long eh!  now its near completion with a full race engine to go in. even though its a show queen!

The 1275 GT will become more popular as the Mk.1 & 2 Coopers become more hard to find and thus more expensive to buy. A 1275 GT with period modifications such as a Cooper 'S' spec engine will attract buyers and go up in value.

However, did the OP say that he has a GRP front? That is one thing which will seriously hold down the value. Best to re-fit an all-steel as-original front end. This will really enhance the value and increase the safety as well.

Personally I love the GT, even though it is one Mini I've never owned. I did build a historic rally 1275 a few years ago which had full 'S' engine mods and gave just over 100 bhp at 6400 rpm. It was sold by my friend who owned it for a lot of money and has won several events since. Was featured in Mini Magazine too.

We bought Trevor, our 1275GT at the end of 2012 and paid a considerable amount of money for him.

He's quite unusual though, and I think he's the earliest, more or less original (the majority of his paint is orginal) surviving 1275GT.  He was built on 17th April 1970 and registered on 1st February 1971.  He has every MOT, service sheet and bill from new.

It was really my husband who wanted him, as I was a little unsure about square noses.  However, I have to say that he has bags of character, is a lot of fun and I prefer him to our Mk3 Cooper S.  However, I have been amazed at the interest in him.  He is very popular when we take him to general classic car shows and has recently been featured in Practical Classics.  Before we had even picked him up, Corgi had asked us if they could use him as their new 1275GT model.

I guess the fact the magazines are interested in 1275GTs and that Corgi want to make a model of them, shows there must be strong interest.  I guess this translates into rising values.

Here's Trevor's Corgi model (due out in March) - http://www.corgi.co....-yellow-trevor/ and here's Trevor himself (the photo's not mine)

black tulip is an original GT colour and is probably the lest common, with the gold stripe and cream interior i think it looks the best!

actually, the older picture, when the car was shinier, thats the original shell ,that was the day they bought it in 73!  so the stickers must have been like that when they got it from marshalls in cambridge!. hmm strange

The Alfa in front is an 85 so I think it is later than 73?

Yes, Trevor is Bronze Yellow :-)

A nerdy 1275GT fact is that early cars had their stripes painted on rather than being stickers.  Here's Trevor's slightly warn stripe (thanks to surfblue63 for the pic).
