Add Greenlight to the above list. Very good service and cheap.

I'm going to ask as well, what's the best for a 17 year old?

None will be cheap at 17 but I'm with Adrian Flux (£104) on my 1330 declared as modified (obviously not 17 anymore) but you need to watch out for mileage restrictions for a good price and traveling to and from work gets loaded, to avoid young drivers getting a classic to avoid high premiums.

Can recommend Flux though

I've gone with Herts, £1751, agreed value as a 17 year old on a 3 litre westminster

Go on comparison sites, Compare the market .com was best for me, I'm 18 with admiral for under £1000. Change the options I put 4000 and 5000 mileage restrictions and the 5000 quote was cheaper, also make sure that you ask for an agreed valuation, my quote went down by £500 by filling out a form for £10 which also make the car worth around £2000 rather than £200 which they value it at without filling out the form.

I'm with flux too, I have points on my licence and still got it for £167 fully comp. Be honest with them, I've read that they can be an awful company but I think that's because people lie to get their quotes down. I didn't do the agreed value but I will do come renewal time :)

I can't remember the company I think it was flux direct but for less than a year NCB 10.000 miles a year

Mini auto converted to manual ,bored out engine , wider wheels , and interior upgrades

It came back at Sumink like £1560 or something

Not to bad some of the oldies who pay £200 a year will say its spear but for the young ones it's not bad compared to a 1.2 corsa for 4k

Wow... I'm completely shocked that some of you are paying around the grand mark. When I got my first mini (Mayfair) at 17 I was only paying £200..
I got quoted £144 from Footman James and thought that was expensive. Was expecting under £100, use to pay £81 for my MGB GT.

With some insurers, later Mini's are more expensive.

Mine is a 93 Mayfair 1275 and it costs more to insure than my last car, a 2ltr Escort with all mods declared.

Try Carole Nash. They were competitive and their customer service is excellent.

I sent off pics and details for an agreed valuation a month after the policy started and got a valuation certificate from them in 2 days.

Very happy with them so far.

Managed to get insurance for £18. They want pictures of the mini for several different angles. That sort thing normal then?

Carole Nash wanted front, back and sides, plus an interior shot and under bonnet, but only necessary for an agreed valuation.

It means that you should get its true value back without hassle if the car is written off.
