Hi all of you there,
First, a small introduction:
I recently bought a 1977 mini with al interior parts and engine from a late model Cooper with HIF44 carb.
When I bought it it ran great. Though it needed to get a new MOT. This ended up in replacing a couple of parts and retuning the carb so the CO levels wouldn't be to high.
The mini passed the MOT passed with flying colours. Only there came a new problem, retuning the carb.
I have tried all of the techniques i could find without any result.
The engine won't start on it's own, so it needs a little help from brake-cleaner. It will run when it's cold and keep running in idle -high idle though- without the choke, when the engine heats up the fuel filter doesn't looks like it get's a lot of fuel running trough it ending up in not working in idle with a hot engine, the only thing that helps is putting the idle speed up to 2000 RPM
In my opinion it should have something to do with the fuel/air mixture. Has anyone a good techinique on getting this right? Because I am left with hands in my hear shaking my head.
