Hi folks,

I'm really new to this, but seem to be having this exact issue.  Can you tell me whether the governor rod and kickdown rod are the same item?   The manifold i have tried to fit is fouling the vertical rod which appears to join the throttle linkage at the carb to the gearbox area.  Is this the rod that can be bent or removed?

You can bend it slightly to avoid contact with the manifold, but you'd need to adjust the rod at the gearbox end to compensate for the shortening of the linkage caused by the bend. You could find your your changes at the wrong speeds or kicking down when lightly accelerating.
