That is unsafe, because it has added numerous additional failure modes to the headlight circuit. What happens if a relay fails, not uncommon? Both lights go out at once. And where are the fuses? Upstream of the relays, one blows, both lights go out. It is unsafe to rely on the driver having the presence of mind to switch from main to dip, or vice-versa, if both go out, and it may cause an accident to someone else by shining main beam in their face.
Where are the beefed-up earths to handle the current from uprated lamps, yet another common failure point?
Such modifications add very real risks, of which your insurance company must be fully informed.
There is occasionally some very dangerous advice on this forum, and sadly we have yet more of it. If you don't understand failure modes and effects, please do not give advice on safety critical systems, ever.

Also, every single time headlights are mentioned, HIDs come up. Please give it a rest, the subject has been flogged to death in the technical section far too many times, and it is known, without any shadow of doubt, that it is just plain illegal to fit them to a Mini, and that goes for LEDs over 2000 lumens too.

Can you post an alternative wiring diagram or set of instructions or a link to show how it should be done. That would be a great help, I was going to follow the above but would prefer to do it safely and correctly.
Thanks

Ok then witch is more unsafe, The standard (in my case 30 year old) wiring melting and the headlamp switch melting/catching fire or a fuse/s blowing? In both cases you'd lose your headlamps....

You know what I've pretty much had It with wasting my time with every time I suggest something and being slated for it (I've only been around working, rebuilding and restoring minis for the best part of 15years so clearly know ******* all), So if Tiger99 can't be arsed to come up with a better 'safer' solution there is always this just as 'equally' unsafe advice hear...
