Whats the best thickness of wire to use for welding up body panels?
Ive got 0.6 at the minute and it seems to blow holes in everything, even
on the lowest setting of the mig?!?!?!?!

Eh 0.6mm.

My advice is to use short bursts and overlap the weld pools. If the setting is on the lowest and you are still blowing holes then it may well be technique. The lowest setting on any mig is enough to scare thin sheet metal. If you are welding anywhere near an edge it will hole it if your technique is not right

try this site for some info, they have a forum too to discus and advise on any problems you have

try turning up the wire feed a bit and going faster. thisll give it less time to heat the metal

sounds like a lack of experiance with the welder, i weld more body panels than enough and repairs too and only ever use .6mm on low/med settings, sounds like to slow wire feed wrong gas flow and power settings

what welder do u have?

I think ive sorted my problem now, just had a practice with some spare bits of metal
and using different settings, gas flows and wire speeds.

Got a faster wire feed and more gas and now i can use it on the medium setting.

I think it was just a lack of experience with the welder and not practicing before
i jumped in at the deep end!

Cheers for all the advice. :proud:
