Gutted for you! We went to the old tile place at Delamere and watched everyone through twice, then over to Beeston to watch everyone through the last test. always enjoy going out to see all the classics being thrashed around. The kids love it too.

A real shame you missed it, I don't think I've ever seen a clutch plate go like that before!

What's the next rally for you then? A few of my friends always enjoy the North Yorkshire classic later in the month.

Cheers, Martin.

Hi Martin....in all honesty the engine is on the bench at the moment so not too sure on the next event. Plus the North Yorks and Ilkley are all full, so definately not one of them.  I've been offered a seat navigating on the Leukemia rally - so that might be a goer.

I've got unfinished business on a night road rally called the Automark over in north wales, so that might be the next event for me in the mini....but stay tuned!!!  I always post which event i'm doing next in my build thread, so keep an eye out on that for any info if you want to come and speccy.  The Automark ran daytime tests last year at Ruthin cattle market, so worth a trip over.

Yes, I'll be there. Do they have a class for experts or is it strictly novice only. I didn't realise it had daytime sections. I would of loved to have a spin on that with it being so local.

Are you doing anything else to the engine whilst its out or just doing the clutch?

Not sure if it's an AP plate...only numbers i can see are on the broken section facing inward...no other markings.

It would be a simple fix wouldn't it....but would be daft not to 'tweek' the engine whilst its sat on my bench.....planning on a cam change as the one in it is a wee bit mild (think its a standard one as the previous owner did have a wild cam in it originally but is a big girl and decided to swap it out). He also got rid of the rather tasty head that was on it (think the company who looked after the car saw him coming!!!!) so decided to bung a tame unleaded head on it too to make it more driveable????!!!!!  Ruined what was a stonking engine - I sold him the engine years and years ago and now i've got it back attached to the car!

And i just so happen to have a nice 'worked' head to go on it....should make things more interesting with the cam and maybe a lightened flywheel.  Might change the dizzy too.  Not much needs doing with the bottom end or gearbox/diff (fingers crossed anyway!!!) so that should save a few quid.

If your allowed to run mapped ignition, it would be a good addition....

Not 'officially' allowed.....and only one type of electronic ignition is allowed anyway......but i've never had my dizzy looked at at scrutineering.

No-one took photos at Barries' and my control! Perhaps we're not photogenic enough (or simply too old) :D .
