what happened? not even on the final starters list!  :ohno:

Got scrutineered the night before, set the trip meter, got home, plotted the bits of route we had, fish and chips....good nights sleep!!!

Early start, car started, set off, 2 miles from home went for a gear change (driving slowly and like a granny!) and 'bump' - NO DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!

So a mad look over the car and a few hurried phone calls and i think its something either in the clutch or transfer casing that has failed.  Engine runs sweet, and gearbox seems fine so assume its something connecting the two....will investigate now.

Of course you get the 'know it all' person from my motorclub asking why I hadn't fixed it when we turn up to speccy...saying the works teams would have that fixed in an hour.....yeh but the works teams are a team and not one person stuck on the side of the road who's just been punched in the preverbial gutts!!!

So in short.....didn't start!!!!  and lost my entry fee due to the fact i signed on!!!  Gutted ain't the word, but "That's Motorsport!!!"

I went to watch the tests at beeston with family. We all enjoyed it and saw some nice cars.
Shame you never got to compete

sorry to hear it but, as you said, that's Motor sport...

I feel gutted last November with my first retirement on the Woodbridge Targa last November, mind it was during the event and not before. It's getting to know the dark side of motor sport.

There will be more events. Keep going... and posting too!!

I was there too talking to another TMF member who's building a mini for rallying.

Glad you enjoyed it....always a good day out, and helped that the sun was out too.

Next year I will be competing and I will make it to the start!!!!

Don't worry...I will keep going....got the bug now and motorsport has always (first memory is sitting in a push chair crying my eyes out as a Group B car went past), and will always be part of my life.....even the dark sides are welcome as you can't appreciate the good results with experiencing the bad ones!

We also watched it at beeston-some great cars -i was suprised how rapid the initial acceleration was on the lead minis in comparison with rear drive cars around them or it could be mini drivers are more max attack ?

Don't take any notice of the motor club expert they seem to turn up everywhere.....better luck for your next event

Dave, Barrie & I did feel sorry for you, but it was good to have your and Jennie's company at dinner at the finish. At least we all had some laughter!

Let us know what the problem is when the engine is out (today?).

All the best.

Not really....80 BHP ish...will know exactly when i finally rolling road it.

Plate is probably the one fitted when my mate (who i bought the car from) had the engine built about 12 years ago.  Car hasn't seen much use...until i bought it and started competitng in it.
