Got a blowing exhaust manifold. Didn't realise KwikFit won't sort it. Went to a local man, first thing he said was "oh my god I love your mini" So he's gotta be alright.

70 quid for new gasket and clamp. Is that about right?

A Haynes manual is a lot cheaper! Seriously though this is an easy job, the cost of the gasket is around £3. Do you have tools and an hour or so?

Oh really? TO be honest I'm thick as pig ******* and don't really know my way around engine.

Kwikfit were confused. My Mini is a 92 BOC and their special book of car thingy-me-bobs says it it should have twin pipe at the manifold, but my mini has a single pipe.

That's because they're stupid.

Get yourself some tools (only need 1/2'' deep socket and ratchet) and the gasket from any autoparts place for £1-£3

I see.

I have some sockets. They're pretty. Unused. I stand my Christmas tree on the case every year.

I'm going to have a go

You don't need to know your way around an engine to fix a blowing exhaust! It's in essence a scaffold pole :P I'm sure you can work it out

It's really simple, I think it's one of the first jobs I did on a car actually!

Lots of WD40 on the manifold studs/nuts just incase. Very easy job though. If you were considering a stage one kit now would be a good time to fit it!!
