Love old car mags.

Been buying them since I was a teenager in the 80's. All the first Mini Worlds and Mini Magazines in a box in the attic - hundreds of them!

Came across some that I still had in my parents house, 80's Autocar mags with road tests of then new but now classic, 205 / 405s, Sierras, SRI Cavaliers etc much more interesting than today's plastic cars.

Being old I grew up with Cars and Cars Conversions ... it was the only mag that dealt with modified cars at the time.  I can remember rushing out to get the latest one that featured the all new KAD 16V head and a few months before that they featured a mini with a alfa twin cam engine and gearbox.  The technical section featured loads of questions on minis and on escorts and that was about it.

One of the things you do notice is the quality of the cars is much the same, the main difference now is that a lot of people pay to get the mods done, back in the 70's and 80's you did it yourself or got mates to help out.

The other thing is the quality of the writing - the features were much more professionally written, maybe it was just a style thing but you got more detail and technical info .... CCC used to put the cars on a dyno, so all these mini's with 145BHP 1380's featured today would have been put through their paces, I think it meant people produced less BS regarding what they were actually building.

Hi, sorry for the thread revival but I wonder if you can help me out?

I read about the mini magazine 16v mini the other day and it got me thinking about one id seen years ago in mini world. It was a 16v lotus cortina engine on a mini gearbox that sat in an orange clubby estate. I've tried to find more on it but all I have found is a couple of pictures and thats about it:

Can I ask if you know of the artical and whether you might be able to share it at all? A bit cheeky I know but I cant find it elsewhere or even if you could tell me the issue number so I can try to find one for sale.

Cheers

Ryan

I have a PDF copy of a nearly 300 page Miniworld Features Index from 1991 to 2008.
Can be very useful for finding that article buried somewhere in your collection of Mags !

Does not seem to attach to this post.....so if anyone wants a copy pm me your email address.

At a guess it would be 96/7 maybe, it was definitely the older mini worlds with the old yellow logo from my first time mini ownership. But to be honest that could really be anytime between 94 and 2000... lol back then I only really bought mini world when it caught my eye. I do know I regret throwing them all away when we moved house...
