How old are you?
Most classic policies have a min age of 21 or 25.
And yes you might need experience / driving years under your belt.
Classic insurance is aimed at those with another car, doing low miles, usually enthusiasts, usually the older type of person who respects classic vehicles etc.

bare in mind that classic insurance does not let you build up any no claims either - and the mileage is very limited.

You're best off on a comparison site.

It's true that you don't tend to build up no claims with a classic policy, this is because they are intended to be low cost secondary policies to be used on Second/hobby cars, whilst your no claims is gained/ used on your main/daily car. Whilst limited mileage classic policies do exist, they are much less common these days, with most specialist insurers now offering unlimited mileage policies.
The main advantage with a classic policies is that they generally come with an agreed valuation option, meaning that in the event of a claim you will get back what you have agreed your mini to be worth, as opposed to the standard market value settlement that you get with mainstream policies (I.e a few hundred quid in the case of most classic minis).

I used compare the market, and got my cheapest quote with admiral, with mum and dad on the insurance. they give a classic car discount which reduced it by £500
