Hi i have just purchased some 4 pot calipers, 8.4 vented discs, and drive flanges for vented discs from minisport for my 1992 Rover Mini Mayfair. The calipers and discs line up just fine but because of the thickness of the vented disc it fouls on the bracket that mounts the steering rod to the hub. So can i just grind a little bit off of the bracket, will this be ok. Many thanks in advance.

Do you mean the tie rod? ie the bit that bolts through the front of the car body? I would not take anything off that it could weaken it. Is there any meat on the caliper body you can shave off? I had some MiniSpares alloy 4-pots that just kissed the tie rod, it did not impact steering or anything.

i think he means the boss around the bolts the hold the steering arm onto the top of the hub is touching the back of the disc.

i have seen plenty of other people grind some material off them to get clearance. i believe i have heard that there is a different arm you can use which fits without modification, but check that as i may have just made it up?!?

@Metro-Man, you have described it perfectly, sorry for the vague description. i will have a look for the different arm for vented discs, but as its not really load bearing i think i may try shave a bit of of it first, many thanks for you're reply.
