SAE30 was the running in oil I used.

I am inclined to think that running-in oil should not be used unless the gearbox internals are also new. I would be interested to see what others think about that.

 

Also, I never, ever use "cheap" oil in any car, except one that is going to be scrapped or have a full engine rebuild soon. Engines are expensive, and rebuilding them takes a lot of time, compared to the cost difference between some Comma or Wilko rubbish and the finest mineral oil (not synthetic in a Mini, if possible) from Castrol, Millers, Valvoline etc.
