Getting a refund for the wheels is not an issue. Whats going to be an issue is recuperating the 100 pounds original postage and the 100 pounds return postage.

I actually quite like the wheels and they will suit my blue audi pretty well, just not as nice as the ones i thought i would be receiving.

Within the UK they should refund postage including return postage BUT you try getting them to do it. I have tried a couple of times and failed. Trading standards were uninterested. The best chance is to get the money refunded by the card issuer and inform the company that the wheels are ready to be collected by their courier. That way there is a chance you would not be out of pocket. The trick will be convincing the card issuer.

They won't do anything... They are as described so they've done nothing wrong. A McDonald's burger isn't anything like pictured!? just try and get your money back if your not satisfied though I kinda think they look decent!

Just as a note, they photograph the burgers like that so that you can see every part of the burger before buying, ie all the dressings hanging out etc... its kinda not the same thing as a photo of a wheel with different finish or different ET

but the thickness, freshness of the salad, size of the bun, etc etc etc are all totally different so it's not just a case of a 'representation'. I wouldn't eat at McDs if you gave it me for free.

I think the difference on the wheel pic is clear BUT I still think it will be very hard to get anywhere on this one (I have to admit I like the matt finish, but that's not the point).

No they aren't, they aren't allowed to be under the advertising regulations. The product is all exactly the same, same weight and same amount of everything, although it's true freshness does play a big part. It just gets dressed by a professional home economist rather than slapped together by a teenager. They just know how to make food look good. Peas for example are always still frozen in the photo and have a photographic life of about 10 minutes under the lights once they are out of the freezer. I've done a lot of food commercials, they are very tedious. But entirely off topic!

no that isn't the case, it's the same with your local pizza place. The pics do not represent the exact food. Whether they should or not is irrelevant, the reality is that they don't. Watch supersize me and see the bit where he compares the pics to what he gets.

American advertising law is different. Believe me, I make food commercials for a living. How everything is represented causes hours of insanely detailed debate on set. Library photos are not treated the same way as commissioned adverts.

Cheers for the advice guys,

I offered the wheels up to the car tonight and I have gotta say they are pretty smart looking. Am going to keep them!

I need to get my studded tyres of the car ASAP, I think legally the end of this month. So I am in a bit of a panic for summer wheels. I have a set of v12 hankook tyres ready to go on the wheels.

All of this I won't be tell the company though, and I will be pushing for a discount.

I'll buy you a big mac tomorrow, then we'll set up some pics with my D90 and as you say!it'll look nothing like the pictures in the store!

The pictures are misleading, I'm sure you agree!

They are misleading, and I'd be absolutey gutted. Spending loads of money on the wheels that just rant right would p**s me off. But... There's always a god damn but! Shops spend so much time selling something that isn't actually what it shows. Like the guy said. In "McDonalds" the sald is practically dead, the burger is the size of a pea and the bread is well not even sure it's bread :L. If your happy with the wheels then I wouldn't bother trying to get a discount. If you don't like them send them back and complain!

Do you want us to hide this topic before they see it  ;D

On Maccy D's - it's a bit different if you are stood on the other side of the counter and able to offer "I don't like it" & "I want that one" before handing over your cash - or walk out & go to Burger King instead.. The distance selling regs just substitute your front door for the shop counter so you can make the purchase decision when you see the actual goods.

It actually says on the ebay ad to make sure the item is correct before letting the courier leave if you are not happy just return the item?
