Can anyone recommend a good one, preferably quite cheap, not going to be used for anything serious, just looking for a normal size one that will take standard disks. Thanks

B&Q 4 1/2" Performance Power 600W for £19.98. Had one for a good few years, copes well with occasional use. Wouldn't spend much more if you're not needing it everyday.

I would pay a bit more and get a makita. I have one that is about £50-£55 at amazon and it soaks up all the abuse I can throw at it. At work we only have cheap ones and they never seem to last more a couple of years before the bearings or brushes wear out. It would be cheaper to get a decent one, but short termism means we get cheap ones.

I don't know if they do angle grinders but I've always found Wickes own brand power tools to be ok, they come with a 3 year guarantee, so my view on it is if it breaks in the next three years I get a new one for free, if it lasts longer it was really cheap anyway and pretty good value.

i have a makita angle grinder, they body small and tight around the disc area so you can get it into tighter areas, also the body is not to big so easy to hold in your hand, but like said they are about £50.

if you want one to do a job just get a the B&Q grinder.

Don't buy the budget Clarke one. My one ate its own innards after 13 months. I bought one of their "contractors" ones and it's a big brutal yellow beast in comparison.
