I should expect that youd be paying (depending on the quality of the work, how many coats etc etc etc) anything from £3000 upwards really. I say that only becasue they'd have to buy in so many different colours as well as having to mask little sections off at a time plus the fact that it's probably take about 20 years to do!

Im no paint expert but if you wanted to get a better quote, print a picture of this off, show it to a bodyshop guy and watch his face when you show him it!

I have often thought about this, but I reckon it'd cost more than the car's worth... :P

if you're serious about it, it may be worth getting it wrapped instead of painted, as like other people have said, the paint job could be alot, a wrap should be cheaper.

Your looking at about 24 colours there
so that means a heck of alot of time laying out the lines and
masking up the car for every colour change
after you have all the colours applied you then got to build up clear coat
and flat this back after every 6 or so coats, you keep doing this until the surface
is smooth and you can not feel or see the lines where the different colours touch.

so think of the materials in metallic car respray,
4 litres primer (etch, primer etc etc) £80
2 - 2.5 litres of paint £80
and 3 litres of laquer £60
mask it for primer
re-mask for colour/clear
labour 6 hours @ £30
this job- no repairs (just painting) approx £400

on this it looks like
mask it for primer
4 litres primer £80
24 1/2 litres of paint £400
mixing each colour, cleaning out guns each time
cleaning down the car each time

re mask it about 26 times for paint
6 litres of laquer £120
this job labour about 50 hours @ £30

so about £2700 inc vat

you could always try it yourself using halfords cans...!!
there is now a guide to painting pinned in this section :P

there was a dutch guy at L2B with a mini totally covered with a vinyl graphic of a galaxy type picture. looked absolutly awesome. so it can be done that way. and i would have thought stripes would be fairly easy to do.

well, whatever the picture is, it doesn't make a difference, as its all printed onto one piece of vinyl, but it shouldnt be to hard to do.

i know its all on one sheet, but the guy was telling me its hard to get good pictures in high enough resolution so that they arent blurry. stripes wouldnt require such a high res picture because they are just lines.
