had the car nearly a year now and i was told when i bought it that it had an MG Metro conversion, just used GW's excellent engine number spreadsheet and found out that this is my engine number.....12Hd09...which is....
12H D09 --> 15 1275 A+ L D I Metro, 9.75:1CR
im gutted now!!
weird for it to still kick out 73bhp just from a stage one on just a metro engine, unless its an MG metro head??

The only difference between a MG metro head (leaded) and any other metro head is the size of the inlet valve (1.4" instead of 1.3")... the main difference comes in the cam, and a little more compression.
Any decent 1275 should be able to push out 70+ hp, especially with a stg1 kit, std metro is 63hp

i thought 73 bhp from a stage 1 kit looks about right
my 1990 cooper made 70 bhp with a stage 1 kit and thats ment to be the same sep engine as a non mg metro engine
