Nice job Hunter.  I guess the RHD is still good to go in BC?  I heard through the grapevine that they wanted to ban them soon.  Not sure why though as most of them are too slow to pass most items on our roads except for the few, ie: Skyline.

I like the road trip pics.  Can't wait to get mine going and do the same sort of trip.

cool stuff makes our europe tours look like a sunday drive :-). I have played with the idea of shipping the "bath tub" out and having a play but its early days

RHD in B.C. was not an issue when the Safety Inspection was done. Personally, if it were a steel sided Van I would change to LHD but the rear side glass provides a good greenhouse view to the 4 quarters.

Oddly, the Safety Inspection did not lead to a request for a reverse light though it did say side marker lights and reflectors were necessary...because all Minis that came to Canada then had them. They also had a reverse or backup light but that was not required. I will add reversing lights.

Of course had to switch from RHD to LHD headlights. The original 1973 window glass met our safety requirements.

However, the first extra thing I did was add LED lights at the top of the barn doors as a third brake light...because the bonnet of most pickup trucks are higher than the Mini roof. The LED strips were a quickie install and I will replace with RED LEDs in an aluminum strip mount inside the door glass.

A bonus addition to the Window Van was the fitment of 8.4" disc brakes by a previous owner (not the young fellow I bought the Van from). So the Van stops.

I am now building up a 1293cc power unit that will go over a rebuilt gearbox with outputs for pot joints. The box will also do away with the 3.65:1 FD as a 3.44:1 gear set will go in. No intention to build an uprated power unit other than to help get around in our mountains...and because I have a 1293 block in very good condition.

When I rebuilt the suspension I pulled the rear hubs for clean/bearing pack/longer wheel studs to install Cooper S rear drums to square up the stance of the Van.

Darn shame that the new rubber cones were duds and failed immediately.
