i have recently fitted some hi los to my car to lower my car, and now the wheel has started to rub on the arch. so i just wondered what are the best shocks to purchase that will compensate the use of the hi los and work in unison with how low it is, without the rubbing.
any suggestions?
the koni shocks?
Cheers in advance

Ive got some G-max shockers for mine for use with my hi-los

Shock absorbers DO NOT affect ride height, no matter what shocks you have, if they rub now, they will rub with different ones... you need to adjust the ride hight of you hilo's
And if you have it that low, you will need 'short' shocks.

thats not true. stiffer shocks Have solved rubbing problems on my cars before. My mini used to scrub occasionally at the rear when hitting lumps in un-even roads. a better quality shock has solved this.

i agree i put stiffer rear shocks on and now no rubbing atal even with a passenger!!! but like guessworks said get the lowered shocks!!! i had g-max to start with and one blew an oil seal after 1500miles, now that pretty poo i think!!

Yes it is true !! A shock WILL NOT alter the ride height....what it will do is prevent the height varying as much and so may stop bottoming out. This of course will be at the expense of a very firm and bumpy ride !

I'll sit on the fence a bit!
While I agree that the shock will not alter the ride height (how can it!?), what it can have an effect on is body roll. A stiffer shock = less roll, so you *should* be able to run a little lower and not get rubbing. Quantifying that "little lower" is difficult, and as grayedout points out, it will also affect your ride, and if not done correctly front and rear, will also have an adverse handling effect.

it is true that shocks dont alter the ride hight but thats not what dunks asking.
i fitted a set of gaz shock to mine and that stopped the rubbing when i set them quite stiff, i would reccomend gaz as i have had no problems with my set.

Cheers for your input guys.
well i have have to higher the car due to the rubbing has caused a split in the underside of my arch, which is defeating the object of the hi los
so overall, the shocks that seem like the general go for would be g max?

I agree with what everyone has said in that shocks will just alter how the car rolls not alter the ride height!!
And why has no one mentioned SPAX.....have been around for ages and have a good reputation...

Shock absorbers don't affect the ride height, but they will have some effect on the suspension travel. A stiff shock will require more force to compress it, and when combined with the force required to compress the rubber cone, it will give less travel in the suspension.
G-max are the cheap alternative, but i've heard some bad things about these. You'd be better off going for GAZ, Spax, Koni or Avo than G-Max.
