Hi all,
Im organising a run out into the spectacular countryside surrounding sheffield/matlock (Peak District).

I organised one a few months ago and got a great turn out of 14 Classic Minis, and a great day of driving.

This one is a little different as I have opened it up to all makes and models regardless of make, cost or condition. While I enjoyed the all classic mini drive I think it would be great to have some variety and hopefully some really unusual cars turn up and see just what is hiding in garages and under covers in the area.
As I appreciate that some owners may want to convoy together with all the others of there make, might I make the suggestion that all the minis drive together, followed by all the fords, followed by all the Fiats, followed by....... etc etc.
I have started a small, informal, and of cause free club in the area. Its based on Facebook and is all about appreciating the great driving roads in the area no matter what you drive, and seeing all the weird and wonderful cars hiding away. Its purely for organising these drives out and not intended for chat, sales, technical questions or spam (pistonheads and other such forums are best for this), just for me to get word out about runs and see who is interested. (and yes it has a cheesy name) This is the link to it: https://www.facebook.com/groups/766736203336662/

Run Details:

Run starts at the layby next to the Moorlands Pub in sheffield at 11:30, I will be getting there at 11:00. This is on the 3/5/14. We will drive out towards Matlock, then up to Bakewell and onto monsle head for a brief loo break. We then drive towards Casteleton via Cressbrook, we then go round to Edale and onto a petrol station on Bamford to top up and re group. We then will drive the final 10 or so miles to our end location, a pub in ringinglow village, sheffield.
All cars welcome. Print out the attached file for rout, cant stress how helpful this will be to you. Also remember to fill up before coming as the petrol stop is right at the end of the run and the run is around 70 miles.

We did hit a few small issues last time, firstly confusion over dates and routs, below is a rout and the date is to be 11:30am on the 3/5/14. Print the document with the rout!
The main niggle we had was people getting lost, I will attempt to stop more often which should help. I have attached the rout to this posting, last time I only saw one person with the rout printed out, having a copy is so important to guide you if you get separated. Last time one guy I gave my copy to managed the mid 15 miles alone after a wrong turn and caught us up just after half way purely from following it.
Hopefully this will help it run smoothly.

Follow this page for the latest details and updates, Also feel free to PM or email me or comment on here if you have any questions, issues, or concerns. This is the first run as the club, so hoping for a big turn out.

Basic Details:

Date: 3/5/14 at 11:30am
Run start post code and address: Moorlands Pub, Owler Bar Sheffield. S17 3BQ Setting off at 11:30, suggest arrival at 11:00am. Do not be late, we are planning on leaving promptly.

Midpoint break: Left just before turning for Longstone (at monsle head hotel),

This is a large entrance to a pay and desplay carpark. Here we will take a 5 minuet toilet break/breather.

End Point Post code and address: S11 7TS , Ringinglow Village, Sheffield. Pub on your left on main road.

Expected times: 11:30 am to 3:30 pm at the pub where some may want to stay to kick tyres.

Rout is below (Attached) PRINT IT OUT AND BRING WITH YOU.

The rout is long (60 miles aprox) so bring sufficient fuel.

You are responsible for your own driving, obey the laws and curtacies of the road, this is not a timed event, race or competition.

Have fun! and hope to see you there, James (MiniGrin) - DASHr Club Organiser.

Below is a list of people going, copy the list and add your name, car make, colour and forum name if you are on a major forum such as pistonheads or a model specific one such as TMF.

Is the route for this run the same as the last run? I know there were a few links to route planner websites in the last thread, perhaps a good idea if someone could do one as the map in the PDF is small and if most are like me we don't read the directions, instead rely on just looking at the map.

Here's one I saw http://www.rac.co.uk...-planner/l/dWns

there is one ive written up to be a little clearer attached to my first post :) the RAC ones were hard to follow, one of the bits of feedback I got, and looking at it again some of the instructions it gave were a bit confusing. And the rout is slightly different. So I drove the rout looking at my audiometer and telling a mate to take notes of turnings and mileage between.  SO its easy to follow. Ill reattach the file to this post (in a rich text file - Word Pad - open it and go to file and print, it should be sized to print well already on A4)

Edit: sorry its late XD I didn't read the comment properly, I will get onto the rout planner then, there are some tweaks to the last rout that rout planner disagreed with XD ill have another bash at it and re comment :)

Okay, here is the link to the rout planner http://www.rac.co.uk...-planner/l/eAla

and I have attached a PDF file from RAC planner. DO NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS IT GIVES, USE THE ONES IN THE TEXT FILE ("Letter and Rout Plan.rtf").  The directions on the rout planner are confusing and in some places just plain wrong (who told there system about the area, clearly did it on a Friday or a Monday morning) and will get you lost, only use RAC plan for the map.

James,

Hi all, just to keep you all informed, Yes ive had a bump in my car and so it is now off the road, however im hoping to get it back on the road before the run, so we should still be okay for the run, but keep an eye on here and on the group page for updates. It is only a week and a half away, so it will be cutting it close, but i do have faith in the garage its being repaired at. Fingers crossed.

Also a quick reminder that the run is on the 3rd of the next month, which is a saterday. I had at one point written 5th on some pages, sorry for the confusion it caused, id made a mistake whilst looking at a calender, it is defiantly the 3rd of this month all being well.

Also im guessing some are being put off by it being for all cars, not just minis, I felt it could be nice to see just what oddities are lurking in the garages, this wont be an event full of corsas with big exhausts XD and im planning on having people convoy with other cars of their own make together. So their will be the front section of Classic minis only.

Its just one and a half weeks away, so fingers crossed for good weather, tell anyone who may be interested and lets make this run as well attended as the last all mini one.

Thanks, James

organiser.

Awesome, the more turn up, the better the event will be! :D And its nice to see your car is sorted too ;)

Update, ive called the garage and asked where its at, and when they think itle be done by wednesday. Landrover have fixed my alarms, its been tracked and wheel aligned, the engine issues fixed and the other bits sorted. Luckily it was just body damage in the end, and its going to the body shop tomorrow, and should be picked up on wednesday, but so long as there are no hiccups, all should be good and we will be on for the weekend.

Weather is looking to be dry and warm, overcast, but dry and warm. I dont think we could wish for better :D

I will keep you updated with news, on here and the fb group page. I think it will go ahead, i have faith in this garage to get it done for me, so keep an eye on here.

Thanks, James

3/5/14 Run POSTPONED to 31/5/14
Hi all.
Im really sorry to let you all down, however I called the garage today to see where the car is at. If you didn't know a van driver was cutting a corner and on my side of the road, ive swerved to avoid him and spun into a wall. Im okay but the car has some damage to the front. The garage had only just started work, probably crossed wires somewhere when we spoke yesterday and he said it would be ready by Wednesday. So my car will not be ready for the run.
As I am leading the run this is an issue, i have thought about peoples kind offers of a lift, however I would not want to pull people out of there way, also when leading it is often a case of pulling over frequently to let other catch, or driving very slowly at parts. This would be difficult when not actually driving, and would make me feel a little too much like a back seat driver.
So I think the best plan is to POSTPONE the run TO SATURDAY THE 31st of MAY. This is a month away, and will ensure the car is ready in-time. It will also give a better chance of good weather. Same rout, and time, and place, however a month and a bit later.
I really cant apologise enough, however I think this is the best option.
Feel free to pm me, ive messaged anyone who has shown interest, however if you know someone else who may not have found out its postponed a month, can you please pass on my apologies to them.

Sorry again
James Newsam
