Hi everyone,

 

Yesterday I fitted the electronic ignition kit to my 1977 Mini 850, connected all the wires in the appropriate places and it doesn't seem to fire...

 

Checked for a spark, which there isn't...

 

I've read that my ignition may be a ballast one and that the red wire from the ignition kit needs to go to the white wire on the fuse box...??

 

I'll let the pictures tell the rest...

 

 

 

 

 

 

Any suggestions would really helpful!!

Edit - The wire in the last picture wasn't connected to anything before hand...

You should have A wire coming from the ignition key to the coil +, and the black wire coming from the distributor going to coil -, and the distributor red wire going to coil + as well

I put the wire that has the tape round it on the coil + because that was going up the loom to the fuse box (top left fuse, which i think is the ignition fuse...) but It was originally on the - terminal on the coil.... 

 

So i ran a wire from the ignition terminal on the fuse box straight to the coil +, but I'm still not getting a spark... 

 

The car ran before I put the electronic ignition kit in... (on points)

If it was running fine before the only change you have to do wiring wise is connect the red from the distributor to the coil + and connect the short black wire coming out of the distributor to the wire that goes to the coil -

Is that an accuspark/ powerspark unit? The reason I ask is that a few people on here (myself included) have had problems with the separate trigger wheel. Once I changed to the integrated trigger/ rotor it worked perfectly. It nearly did my nut in as I knew it was in right and even sent the unit back to be checked.
