I have this carb, it is a HIF, but not a 44 or a 38.

Anyone have any idea what it is?

Ignore me, read it too quickly, thought you asked is it a 38 or 44. Is it a turbo?

give su a ring they should be able to tell you by giving them the number (FZX 1280). the only maybe useful information was this "HIF44 Service Replacement Carburettor suitable for:Austin Metro 1300cc 1980 Onwards, using SU specification numbers:

FZX 1280,  FZX 1281 and FZX 1412"

Brilliant, thanks.

How did you find that out, if you don't mind me asking?
