Hi guys, I have an oil leak which I found today which I just can't seem to locate, I haven't gone as far as ditching the coolant or anything yet and taking the rad out because I just don't have the time, the weird thing is it seems to be coming from the front of the engine somewhere, it's all over the inner part of the starter motor and the wiring that connects to what I think is the crankshaft position sensor, like I said it's not a great deal but has built up over time, although I haven't checked the oil for a few months because I have been away and haven't driven it as much.

Any ideas? I did have a photo but can't seem to upload it

Worth a look I guess mate, maybe the sensor I think isn't the crankshaft one and it's the oil pressure, which would explain why the wire is soaked because it's running down that...where is the oil pressure sensor located mate can't seem to see it's location in the workshop manual, I'm just going by that and the one sensor that basically goes up near the starter motor is the crankshaft position sensor

This the picture of the starter motor and the lead that is soaked in oil, note- the reverse side of the starter motor which faces the grille is completely free of oil it's seems to be running down the lead and over the starter motor

Maybe the oil capillary pipe from front of the block down to the filter housing? Very weak joint on my injection which I replaced with a better one years ago.

Sorry, didn't realise yours was a MPi. You are correct, there is no pipe on the MPi.
