These have been bonded on with Petes windscreen glue to small L shaped brackets 7 inches apart so i have the option of screwing some studs in
later on should i prefer the look, but looking at it now i think i like them flush. very fussy bar steward me! just ask Pete :)

Took hours to get one to fit perfect but very pleased with the finished look!

Bit more progress today.

Bonnet stripes added. Just needs laquering so it can be polished to match the rest.
Posted Image

The hole in the bonnet is for the fuel cap.
Posted Image

And started fitting gauges in the dash. Square hole is for the gear indicator.

Few steps backwards last week. When Andy went to lacquer the bonnet he decided that he wasn't happy with the stripes. They had some marks in them where they had been rolled up by the shop. Peeling one of them off took some of the paint off as well so it was back to stage one. Bonnet was striped back and re-primed. He then painted the stripes on white before some delicate masking and painting the bonnet red again.

Carefully cleaning up the edges by hand to get a clean line.

Finished result looks a lot better than the stickers ever would.

Is this just a piece of aluminium pipe welded to the fuel tank in the front and bending to you filler cap there

? Are there any safety implications in this stuff? Especially in competitive sport? One way valves etc? Or just a metal pipe? Curious

Will be just a bit of ally tube joined with a couple of bits of flexi hose. Can't see any problems with it this way as a lot of production cars were built like this(just the tanks in the back). The filler cap will be fixed in place permanently and the bonnet will just open around it. Didn't want the hassle of opening the bonnet every time you need to fill up. Car will never be used as a race car whilst Andy owns it so doesn't matter about any competition regulations.

Will be fine for most track days but for racing or sprints, most tracks won't allow a car with an external filler that is solidly mounted to a tank, in case of impact snapping it off or puncturing the tank.

Not much done this weekend as we went to Rockingham to watch the raceing but Andy did manage to finish polishing the bonnet yesterday

And a hedgehog's eye view.

Andy's now decided he doesn't like the 2 holes for the subframe mounts so these will now be fibreglassed over and painted. Will still be able to access the bolts from behind the front panel(will just be a bit fiddly).
Doors will be here soon so can get them fitted ready for painting and due to some changes at work I can start to get on with it again now so should start to see some real progress.

My Minus has never had those holes, the only way to undo the tie-rods is to drop the subframe out of the car, more than a little bit fiddly!
