i went to a meet on sat night with jammy & dom and my bloody throttle cable snapped, i tried to bodge it but no good! jammy had his toyota mk1 mr2 there, he said i could use his bonnet release cable so i did and it is now 10x smoother pedal than it was before so cheers jammy for cable and help!!! just thought i share this mini experiance with u all!!! :(

Yea, you notified your insurance yet? As I said on the night, your engine has Jap parts on it now, got to be worth at least 50 extra brake!

I’ve found a standard rear bike cable works just as well on carb models, especially as you can get one from a local bike shop, Halfords, Wilkinson’s etc for about a pound.

he didnt think of that :) !! and the reason he hasnt replied is because hye's out there now tryint to get the thing open :lol:

Nah, when I brought it back from Torquay I got about 30 miles from my house to see the bonnet flapping about in my rear view mirror (MR2 - rear engined, bonnet at the back!). The cable had detached itself from the mechanism, and I couldn't get it back on, so I left it. My view is, at 70mph, the bonnet opens slightly, giving more cooling air flow over the engine! :genuis:
