So I am doing a 998 full engine rebuild And this is what I have got so far

  • Fresh block +20 and pistons
  • All bearing and gaskets
  • Nikki twin choke carb
  • 12G202 head - Skimmed to 10:1
  • MG metro cam

So I am just wondering what valve springs I should be looking at for my engine, it will be a fast road spec but I know I wont be needing race spring and double springs probably wont be needed, does anyone know of a good set that I should be using, hopefully not for a massive price.

Cheers

I'd use these if using the MG cam & it's going to see some "spirited" driving. http://www.minispare...|Back to search

Don't see why you can't just use standard springs, that's what I'm going to use.

They might be completely sh***ed. As for the top caps and collets, the collets will be fine, you'll need seats to slide over the guides so that the inner spring doesn't wriggle about and I'm fairly certain you'll need new top caps as well, but wait for confirmation

I'm planning to fit those C-AEA525 springs. MS have confirmed top caps are ok (mine are triple slot valves) and I should fit the spacers for inner springs. Show on same page ...

They will be fine. You need to use the correct top caps to match the collets you're using. Triple or single groove.

Cheers for that mate, I have also got the same collets that came off with these caps when I stripped the head.

I just really want to get her back on the road. It's been too long.
