Hiya, today my mini's fan belt snapped just wondering for a first time replacement what sort of fan belt sizes am i looked to get?

My mini is a 998cc Mini Mayfair - also how long would it take to replace the belt alone?

Slacken the two top bolts on the alternator, slacken the adjustment nut (on the bracket under the alternator), put alternator right next to block, pop new belt on (May have to put one edge of the belt on the alternator pulley and then turn the fan/pulley so it slots on easier)... Take tension up (I pop a pry bar between the block and alternator) and tighten up bottom bolt. Make sure it's not too tight or loose. Then finally do up the top bolts. Done :)

Three things I missed out...

Remove the grille - it will be near impossible to do it without removing it. Next, when it comes to putting the new belt on, slot it over the fan first (push belt between fan and rad), then bottom pulley, fan pulley and finally you'll have to get it over the alternator pulley.

Third and final, check on eBay for a Haynes manual - they'll really help you.

Hehehe...put me in mind of my old CAT 215...we always used to fit three belts because it was such a pig dropping the PTO off the crank pulley
