Right well I made a start at attacking the car with a wire brush.
Rear wheel arch was solid!
So I wiring brushed all the scabby bits and gave it a coat of rust eating paint.
The drivers side sill got the same treatment.
That won't be too much hassle to fix but this bit is worse but a very common place for metros to go anyway.
Molly went over the car with a sponge and tried to get the bird crap off. Bloody hell it was stuck on hard haha.
I am off to Scotland Thursday so need to get ready for that 2moz but if I can make some time I hope to go over it with a wire brush a bit more.
Thats it for now.
Cheers.

To best protect the paintwork I would totally jet wash it down and then wash it with a couple of buckets using a mitt, or microfiber and then clay it. Polish and wax it in a day and it'll come up like new. Sponges are the devils work even on an 80s Metros paint!
It does look very solid, take the front wings off and check the inner wings and flitch panels, those are both places that Mk1's and 2s are prone to go. If they're solid give them an inch of underseal/waxoyl and you should be good few a while!

All in good time craig! I want to do the minimum work I can to get her MOTed at the moment so I can take it to the IMM as well as finish my red one in time to take that to the IMM. Gonna be a close call haha.

Haha I was just saying because sponging it down it just going to rearrange the dirt on the bodywork and scratch and create swirls in it which might be difficult to remove later on

Forget the paintwork. I have a machine polisher, clay bar etc.
You can borrow my welder if you want.

Jon would love to have a play with Geoff in Molly's car!
Anyway, I hate you for getting an a series tro for £150. Almost picked up a 1275 tro for Sam for £300, but it was 5 door.. Anything come of the other secret car you were looking at whilst there?

Looks like a beauty of a standard metro, im slowly being drawn to wheels that are well within the arches, compared to the stance look of having a little bit of poke ect...

Right found a headlight!
I'm hoping to get that fitted Tuesday or Wednesday. A mate of mine has said he will tackle the welding for me as well. I just gotta get it to his farm so once the new headlight is in and I can get it running a bit smooth I'll find out a away of getting it too him.
IMM is just over 8 weeks away and as long as nothing major pops up on the MOT this should be there!
