DSN (and a few others) do repair kits. It's basically a new bracket that fixes onto other bolts. They aren't that cheap mind! (but a lot cheaper than an engine rebuild!)

Definitely use the repair kits for this, it's almost impossible to remove either of the two engine steady rod bolts once they snap without taking the engine out and sticking the block in the milling machine. There are several different kits available, you need to choose the correct one depending on which bolt has snapped and whether there is a breather canister fitted or not.

Well, I should of course scream USE THE #**##****# SEARCH BUTTON because this is not exactly the first time someone's done this (and hence the existance of the repair brackets) but since it is pretty hard to find anything on Mini Spares' site thanks to their useless search engine and since no-one seems to have real catalogues on this site I have given in. Here's a link to them at DSN, bottom of the page. If only one bolt is broken and it's the front one, you have to treat it as if both are broken. You'll understand when you see the diagrams of the brakcets.
