I can't say I've ever even heard of them!

What is special about them?

And welcome to the forum :-)

I think it was basically an export model. I therefore haven't ever seen one in the metal as it were and couldn't recall the design of the decals etc for that very reason. Seems pretty rare to me, at least in the UK. I vaguely recall it was for the German market, wasn't it?

I believe rover kept two in the uk, one of which I own and decals were a badge on the back and a silver stripe down the side, they were exported to Japan, Italy and the Netherlands. ( I have removed the stripe )

They just look so similar to British open classics apart from the interior, but you wouldn't know it was a Kensington until you see the badge on the back, kind of annoying ahah

I have a rover mini Kensington 1996, came home from Japan in 2008.

Not a lot different, leather interior and air con.

Also would like to know how many made?

Graham

Mines full leather, no air con but is right hand drive and I was told there was 100 made, I mean I'd never seen one before I got mine and the seller was explaining how rare they are, just wanted to know how true this is

It was exported to 5 countries, if they made 100 that would be 20 each even without keeping any back. Most special runs were about 1000 per country, Japan and Germany were Mini's 2 biggest markets and this edition went to both. There were some very rare editions, one went to the Netherlands with only 20 examples, but by far most editions are in the high hundreds. I don't know what the numbers were for this but I doubt it'll prove to be 100.

RHD ones won't be rare, they were for Japan.
