Good evening,

I’ve been lurking around in the background here since 2012, thought I’d start a build thread on my black 1979 Clubman 1275 GT. it’s finally started and away for body work at the moment.

Wish me luck!

Cute trailer, presumably the drawbar is the other end.

It’s whole again! Got it back a couple months ago. There’s lots of welding to dress up and prep for painting to get on with now. Starting off with the boot floor and bulkhead before I put it on the spit

I’ve been stripping inside the boot and the front bulkhead. Stripped the paint of first and now they’ve had two rounds with BH Deox gel. My plan is get then zinc primed but I’m running out of time before I go away with work. They’re currently bare metal with some minor rusty bits left. Any recommendations of something to spray on the bare metal to keep it from rusting for a month? I'm worried I don’t get round to doing the zinc primer before I leave for a few weeks.

I suppose regardless of how far I get I could just fire the zinc primer on to keep the rust at bay?

Fisher and Ludlow used a film of oily paraffin on the steel to press the body panels, and that was enough to stop them rusting until the shells were built and painted, so if something I'm fabricating is going to take a couple of weeks, I spray it with paraffiny oil from a windowlene bottle.
