Was so pleased this year. Needed a new brake cylinder but, other than that, the Mini floated through her MOT with no advisories. Running fab, regularly serviced and body work kept up to date etc. kept in a nice warm, dry garage etc etc. Thought I was going to have a nice cheap year with her. But, just discovered that, completely at random, the passenger window has seized up and won't roll down more than 4 inches and now won't roll back up again !!!! Why???????? Because I haven't opened it for about 4 months so it's just decided to p**s me off. Sometimes I think my Mini really hates me....

It is an old car so unless its a fresh build then things will break no matter how careful you are. I wouldn't get too wound up about it as its just a part of classic car ownership! :)

... made the mistake of turning the handle just a little bit more.

.... now have a window rattling somewhere inside the door. Just not a practical place for it to be in this weather.  Funny, I was seriously p****d off with the window not winding but am now strangely happy because it hasn't shattered. Why is this?

I'm calling someone who knows what they're doing before I destroy the car.

I find in situations like this a rather large hammer used against an inanimate object is a good stress reliever. Once it's out of your system take the door card off and check the arms and the sliders on the bottom of the window. If they are good the regulator will be the next port of call.
