i dont see what will make it a icon by clarkson saying so, i always thaught it was time and its self that showd us the cars are an icon?

it was officially the car of the century in 2000! Loads of surveys were taken and it was top of most of them! What Car named it Car of the Century so It must be true!

I enjoyed the clip and i value Clarkson's opinions as a motoring journalist of some considerable experience.
However, I do not need anyone to tell me how great my car is.
I drive my 88 City everyday. I watch the tanks roll past guzzling fuel, I watch people turn away from car parks where as i can get in. In todays awfull traffic, i can avoid an accident by swerving out the way without ending up in a bush or shop window. I can get 4 people and luggage in my REAL small car and still have fun.
Everday other people see me in my car. some wave, some smile, some snigger, but i know that everyone who sees my mini and hasn't got one wishes they had. Deep down they all KNOW the REAL mini is the best car ever ever EVER!.

Was this shown on Top Gear? Because Clarkson did a similar thing with a yellow Fiat Cinquencento (hatchback) in around 1994 and the Mini beat that too!
