I have decided to start a build thread for my 1275GT that i recently bought from a fellow forum member Andymini,

So first thing i did was to split the engine and subframe as the previous owner had removed them together

Then i sent the front subframe off for shot blasting and painting, and she returned lovely, with a few other bits done too

Oh and while the subframe was away getting done, I got down to stripping out the rest of the shell, getting her on a rollover jig and cutting the rotten front end off.

Any thoughts, views, abuse or contructive criticism?

A project it certainly is :shy:

It's a 1978, so pretty late in production

Strange, what threw me was the bonnet steady location - I always thought that it was only the very early cars that had it on the passengers side? Mine is an early 72 and has it on the drivers side:

Yeah the bonnet steady :proud:  I don't think that's original, it's riveted on rather than spot welded and the other side looks pretty rotten. I suspect someone has moved it over for convenience or MOT in the past and possibly fillered/patched the hole on the other side. It's hard to say but that's my best guess. The car hasn't been on the road since 1988 so the history is a little hazy :D But the logbook says 1978 so I'm sticking with that as my final answer :gimme:

Ha ha yeah, seems such a waste to have only been on the road a decade. Still has the original tax disc from the last time it was on the road. Hopefully with the tax disc rules changing end of this year, and there no longer being a need to display one, I'll be able to keep it in as a trophy gesture.

When I get it back on the road that is :gimme:
