Is it just me or should they review the parking situations in most shops for Parent & Child Parking?

People park in there when they don't have kids or leave the kids in the car meaning that people who actually have small children / babies have to park in the smaller spaces.

I was shocked to read the small print in Sainsbury's parking (I was wound up enough to see the actual rules) and saw that they are for kids up to the age of 12!

in my personal opinion these spaces should be controlled the same as disabled bays for kids up to 5 years old, anything after that then they should go into the normal bays.

Does anything think this too or am I just being grumpy?

It's more fundamental than that.

Most stores simply haven't got the resources or in reality the legal jurisdiction to "police" Parent and Child, disabled or other parking niceties and everyone knows it.

Yes it annoys me when I've got the family with me that I can't get a Parent and Child space because some inconsiderate ar$e can be bothered to find another space, but it's just life I guess.

Just another sign of our societal slide into oblivion I'm afraid !!

Phil.

I can understand that the stores down the have labour or the power to impose fines on the people parking in these spaces but I don't see how people think its wrong to park in disabled bays but think its okay to go into the Parent & Child ones. Obviously you get them people that are so ignorant that they park wherever they want and don't care.

I have been tempted to make a little note up and stick it on any cars that park in these bays and clearly don't need them.

Some of them probably do it so inconsiderate idiots can't open their door onto their car

But they should be parking In the empty normal bays that are far away

Then again when I park far away someone always parks next to me...

Most times I've been I've had to park on the normal spaces. Was bloody annoying in my previous car, not as bad now, but still annoying nonetheless. I scratched my previous car a few times getting baby seat out the back trying not to hit there car because people who can't be bothered to walk a little further are in the bigger bays and I've had to go in normal space. Happens about 50% of the time.

Does my head in when I see them park the car in there (crooked most of the time too) then walk off into the shops. I jut don't know why some people think its okay to park in there? They wouldn't like it if someone parked in a space designated for them so why do it to others?

That's true as well...most people park in them wonky
Literally just lazy people

Drive in at any angle and rush off into the shop

Doesn't matter about you folks trying to get a baby in through your door that's open just enough for your arm to fit through

Nobody thinks about others anymore though

Remember that some stores don't even own/run the car parks. They employ separate companies to manage them. Some places even use number plate recognition to control how long you can park for. Last year I went to stansted airport to pick the wife up, got there a little early (10pm on a Wednesday) so thought I would pop into to maccy D's and their Carpark said max park time is 1 hour.......how anyone can spend more then 20mins in there is beyond me :P

I agree that it is all wrong too.

My local Tesco is no different and for some reason the pick up point is always full of parked cars. I often see people swing into the pick up point, grab a trolley and go shopping blocking the designated place for taxi's etc to pick up shoppers that have done their shopping.

Make me laugh when i go up there during the night. As i always do my big shop about 2am to avoid the crowds the carpark is always empty with the exception of a couple of cars. People always still think it is fine to park in the pick up point even though the nearest proper space is only a few metres away.

Its not just average Joe either. The police often go there to get snacks and they always park in the pick up point.

wow i didn't realise how much i needed to get that off my chest!

Ben

It really annoys me when you see fat people who can walk, park in the disabled car spaces, get out, get their mobility scooter out and then ride off into the shops. You should be made to park as far away from the shops as possible and made to walk so you get some exercise.

When my mate Pete was still alive his dad got cut in up in a car park buy someone who then took the last disabled space. The person who did this was going the wrong way round the car park too. This forced his dad to stop in the middle of the car park blocking people for a minuet while I helped unload Pete out of the back of his van and then his dad could go off and park in a regular space.

As my mate Pete and I went past the car that had grabbed the last disabled car space we saw some fat bloke waddle out of his car and start unloading his mobility scooter out of the back of it. Pete went over to him and started to have a go at the guy calling him lazy. The best part though by a mile was when Pete said to the guy "you're lucky I have muscular dystrophy or I would be showing you my middle finger right now".

They just need removeable bollards like the ones you can get for your drive. No kids = bollard. No charge to remove but make sure the guy doing it is on his lunch break ;-) so it takes an hour. They would soon learn.

This really annoys me. We have a 406 coupe and they have massive doors, so getting my daughter in and out in a normal space in near impossible.

I always say something if I see someone getting out without a kid. I did so a few weeks back to the 2 fatties in a VW Lupo. They looked shocked that I had said something. It must have worried them as one waddled off into the shop while the other stood outside watching the car.

My sister is disabled and in her 30s, because she 'looks normal' she gets old people that dont even have a blue badge tapping her window asking her to move! Shuts them the ******* up when she gets out with one leg.....often she cant get a parent space or a disabled space when shopping with two small kids, she has no use of her left arm either (all caused by a drink driver just after her 20th birthday). The one that annoys me more is people that have a blue badge that park in the disabled yet 97 year old granny waits in the passenger seat while the perfectly fit and able bodied 60 year old son litterally runs in to get the shopping, can you be so disabled you cant sit in the car listening to the archers in a regular bay? That badge should only be used if the badge holder is getting out imo. I dont have kids so as you can imagine the parent space bothers me less but I can see why its annoying, 15 year old sitting in the car looking at facebook isnt really a requirement for a space while the fat lazy mom gets a few bits, on the other hand most people have children at some point especially the target audience of a supermarket doing the big shop, you cant all have a designated space for 10+ years to cover the span of all 3 or 4 kids reaching 5 plus never mind 8,9 12 etc can you?

Is it acceptable for me to park in the parent and child bays with my massively pregnant wife?
