Hi,

How do you fit this to help the gear change between 2nd and 3rd?

http://www.minispare...ck to catalogue

Thanks,

Rod

remove the selector rod from the back of the gearbox, slide the unit onto the lower rod with the two springy bits either side of the upper rod..

The unit actually comes with instructions...

What it does is spring loads the gear selector so that it sits between 3rd and 4th ( like a modern car )

Bloody hell! I thought it went inside the linkage box where the gear stick comes in to! No wonder I was having trouble fitting it :-)

Thanks,

Rod

I've bought one of these bias barrels and have been having a spot of bother with the roll pin at the gear change rod. Anyone got any tips on how to remove it? Been banging away at it for a couple of hours and so far no movement. Soaking it overnight in penetrating oil, but not confident of success.

You also need a BFH - tapping it with a toffee hammer won't shift it.
Put the car in reverse as well.

Yeah, the correct tool might help...

I've been using a cut off bit of an allen key. It's fairly short and I keep hitting my fingers.

I would definitely recommend getting the roll pin punch for this job. I eventually did and had the job done in an hour. Had to apply a bit of heat along the way mind you.

And I can definitely recommend getting a bias barrel. I now have a smooth change into 3rd whereas before I often had to hunt around for it.
