Bit hot out and about today, made worse as my rear windows keep closing themselves, or at least not staying open and flapping about a lot.

It there a way to stiffen up the resistance of the hinge to prevent this?

are you pushing the hinge back properly when open? Just flicking them open won't stay but if you flick open then push the hinge towards the back of the car so the window is pulled in a fraction it should stay:-)

Yes, pushing the hinge right back, but the slightest bump in the road, and they close again.

Cloths peg or the large versions of lose black clamps you use to hold paper files together for a bodge it type fix

Snap! Worst thing is when your driving and can't conveniently stop, and the bloody things are rattling.... Infuriating.

Mine are actually very stiff to open but stay open perfectly, but Ive got the old piano hinge type rather than the more modern top and bottom "U" fixing.

I do love driving with them open, hearing a nice burble (or roar  :D ) from the exhaust.

Maybe Im a gorilla but I find I can reach back and open mine from the drivers seat.

I reckon the catches on the earlier ones,  with the sticky out handle bit top and bottom, were better quality too.

You could try squeezing the rolled over end of a hinge pin to tighten them up.

If one won't stay shut, or leaks, try adding some packing under the end that screws to the body.
