I am surprised that so many people on the KM website have commented saying they see no problem and it was all very professional.
I just think it is a bit irresponsible with so many peadophiles in the news these days.
That is just my opinion.

thought you meant may-pole dancing
wierd - same as the kiddy beauty show thingy in USA
leave kids as kids - don't dress them as adults - not right
& where did all these pedo's come from -
never heard of them when I was a kid (may have been because I was an ugly kid)

That's hideous, but Maypole dancing is just as bad though.
Well, it is if you think about what it's supposed to represent in the first place!

It's quite interesting that pole-dancing has become a kind of gymnastic sport/exercise routine for a lot of people. Its origins and history are obviously linked with the sex show scene, so it's always going to be associated with that I guess.
Then the Maypole, well, that's just kids dancing around a big pole that's supposed to represent genitalia and the dance is supposed to promote sexual virility and fertility. So yeah, that's not much better!

Its even worse when you consider the Head Teacher, supposedly someone in a position to assist in protecting children, sees no problem with it!!!

Not saying I totally agree with it, but were exactly does it say they were scantily clad (if they were dancing in underwear it would be different) and doing sleazy sexy pole dancing?
I personally cant see much defence wearing the appropriate clothing i.e. tight and formfitting for doing gymnastics and then the same for non sexual dancing round a pole.
Besides if you think a crop top with a sleeve missing and pair of small shorts is too reliving, you should see what some young girls wear to the pool these days. (although don't get me started on the stupid dork shorts for guys debate)
I just think it is a bit irresponsible with so many peadophiles in the news these days.
Or is it another case of what if and assume all males regardless of age, even remotely looks in the direction of a young girl/female wearing something form fitting their instantly ladled a peado? As that's what all the news stories would suggest...

Removing the pole dancing part of the story, would what have the kids been wearing approximate for doing gymnastics?

With this sort of thing, it really just comes down to opinion.
The video they showed on the news when i first heard about it was of a young girl in hot pants and the dance she was doing was the sort of thing you would expect to see being performed to adults in a dimly lit club and i just couldn't believe it.
I have no problem at all with children doing gymnastics but i just don't understand why the organiser thought it would be appropriate to have small children grinding against a pole, whipping their hair around and what not.
I think that there are plenty of sports available to children and all kinds of gymnastics displays at fairs and fete's but i just don't see it as a good idea to allow children to dance in this way.
I like what Dave said about his little one playing fair games in wellies and a ballerina costume. Thats what kids did when i was growing up and i know times change but kids should be allowed to be kids because once the innocence of childhood has gone, it ain't never coming back
I do understand that the concept of this dance is supposed to be innocent and children probably don't link it to the adult stuff but i just think it's a bit creepy.
