hey, im getting annoyed with having to manually operate the wipers when it isnt raining hard enough to warrant the use of the first speed, my mate told me there is a kit available for making the wipers intermittent. any ideas?

I've got a Lucas 6DA wiper delay on my Minis to get the intermittant wipers. I got the units out of a Mk1 Metro Vanden Plas and Mk1 MG Metro. It plugs into the wiper stalk wiring.

moss do one that plugs in. Maplins do a kit, and I believe a few others sell the plug in one too.

how hard is it to wire up and what setting on the wiper stalk does it use as there is only speed 1&2?

Don't bother with the Maplins kit. It doesn't wire directly into a minis loom (and I've also had several Velleman kits with dud components). I'd be interested in seeing this Moss kit though.

I'm pretty sure the moss kit is the same as the W&P kit is the same as the minisport kit. They just plug into the loom, and I think crimp anther wire onto a power source...... Not done it yet though......

Do you have an extra switch to switch between intermittent and normal? or do you sacrifice a position 1?

The Lucas one works off the flick wipe postion, so 1 and 2 postions work as normal. and the flick wipe turns intermittant on and off.

Moss and Wood And Pickett sell the Smartscreen system, which is made for a variety of classic cars. I think the Mini Spares one is different but they work in a similar way.
The flick wipe is still a flick wipe but you also use it to program the wipe delay. If you flick it just once then it only wipes once. If you flick it again within 30 seconds the unit records the interval and repeats it endlessly until you either flick again or turn off the ignition. It can record any interval between 2 and 30 seconds. There is also a version available which wipes for a few seconds when you wash the screen, very useful.
I had a 6DA sitting about for ages and eventually binned it because of the loss of the flick wipe if you fit the thing. I got a Smartscreen instead.
Smartscreen, why not buy direct from them?

Whatever you do, don't order the one from Minitrailers...!!!! I ordered one back in January and it still hasn't shown up...!
Does this merit a prize for worst service award....?

I have one that plugs in to the lume and one other wire to earth. Very easy to install but it doesn't want to work! Any ideas?
