Hi I have notice on my mini on rear near subframe mount there is a crack on the sill going down I think it has had over sills on in the past but why has it got a crack?

Looks like stress on the sill form the subframe. Perhaps the heel board subframe mounting plate hasn't been welded to the inner sill strongly enough. Either that or it's rusted through.

I would have that oversill off and have a poke around.

That doesn't look too good, it has over sills and it may be that the heel board is flexing (where the subframe mounts) due to the rot underneath.

Have a look in your companion bins for rot.

Beat me to it, (although we both agree)

The oversills need to come off to reveal the true horrors of what is beneath

That heel board does look suspect to me.

Hope it's not major surgery time

Doesn't look like it is safe to keep using. Last thing you want is to loose the rear subframe while driving along!

Well it probably wouldn't happen but as it weakens, you will get more slop and then it will start bending and twisting things back there, especially if there is a load of rot behind that sill
