Hi, where I disassembled and serviced my twin hs2's ages ago I can't remember how the linkage was connected up, I think I have it somewhere along the ling but not entirely sure, could someone point me along the right track and possibly include photos to make it easier ?

At the moment I have both linkages in, the choke one is right (I think ) but not too sure about about the butterfly rod, is it connected up the right way ? At the moment I have put the third spring onto the whole of the butterfly rod but I thought it was wrong because I wouldn't be able to connect a throttle cable up anywhere, and now I think I am still missing a bit that has to go somewhere, here's the pictures

looks fine to me. I never understood how it is supposed to work so I just stick the two springs on the throttle linkage and attach the throttle cable to the middle. The choke mechanism should return under its own spring I believe.

Anyone have any photos of there setup? Mine does have a notch on the butterfly rod but I didn't that that the spring would stay In it, I have changed it now so that the spring is in the notch and I can use the hole for the throttle cable, but am I right in saying that the throttle cable is pulled from the air filter area? Because that is how mine is looking at the moment

You are missing the throttle cable bracket that bolts to the manifold. This guides the cable to the linkage. You are also missing the carburettor lever pin that the inner cable attaches to.
The 3 springs are qui red to make the installation safe I.e. One to close each carb butterfly and the third centre one to ensure cable pulls back and throttle pedal returns.
See kit here

I also fit a throttle spring anchor tag to the lever pin to attach the centre spring to. Pt no 12A4 item 10 in the illustrated parts list here

I have found the bracket that mounts onto the manifold, rather than having to buy and wait for the lever pin to come through couldn't I just use a bolt that fits fairly snug through the hole and make a bracket that would hold the spring. I would have 2 nuts with 2 washers inbetween to hold the throttle cable ?

Yep make your own, 1/4UNF bolt with a hole cross drilled is what is required. Make sure that the assembly can rotate in the hole as the throttle lever articulates.

Having more problems now, since I have tightened the manifold up and now I can't seem to move the butterfly rod at all, it is touching the manifold and I have no leverage, have I done anything wrong ? It all looks ok but can anyone point me in the right direction?

Want to get my mini running on the floor again but won't be able to if I can use any throttle !

Is the manifold a mini one?
Have you fitted spacers? http://www.minispare...52.aspx|Back to

I have fitted the spacers, I fitted the after the heat shield and before the car if that makes any difference ? The manifold is a mini one because it was on the same engine before !

Thinking of it now, does the spacers have to be In between the inlet manifold and heat shield ? Because that would make since if it does because you get that extra little bit of gap from the heat shield

Anyone ?

Yes, heat shield next to carbs.
Carbs, heat shield, spacers, manifold.

You can't put the heatsheild next to the carbs otherwise the float bowls hit the heatsheild..... Or failing that just file the edge of the manifold where the linkage hits, quite common on the aeg573 manifold and other variants as it's square where the carbs fasten too

Cheers james

Or put a spacer behind and in front of the heatsheild or use a thicker spacer....:0)
